Potato and broccoli Gratin
(servings 6)
A very simple but very delicious recipe.

Ingredients:
  1. 3 potatoes peeled and sliced (approx. ¼ cm each)
  2. 6-8 florets of broccoli
  3. 1 cup of milk
  4. ½ cup of fresh cream
  5. 3 table spoons of garlic
  6. salt
  7. black pepper
  8. 1 tablespoon of chili flakes
  9. few basil leaves
  10. 3 tea spoons of thyme
  11. 1 cup of gratedparmesan cheese / processed cheese
  12. 3 spoon of olive oil
Method:
In a pan add olive oil. Sauté garlic just for 10 seconds. Add milk, fresh cream, chili flakes, salt, black pepper, and thyme. Let it boil and add cheese to it. Let the cheese melt and add the sliced potato and broccoli. Coat it well. Pre-heat the oven at 160 degrees Celsius. In a baking tray arrange the layers of potato strip (as shown in the video), place the broccoli on top of the potato and cover it with the remaining sauce. Garnish with some fresh basil leaves and few grated cheese. Cover with the aluminum foil and bake it for 50 minutes on 160 degrees Celsius. When you are ready to serve remove the foil and bake it for 10 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius till the cheese turn golden brown. Serve it with garlic bread.

My advice to you:
You need to bake it with the foil because the potatoes are not cooked. They need to be cooked in the oven with the cheese sauce on a slow heat. Just before serving remove the foil and bake it again for 10 minutes to make the cheese golden. You can add mushroom if you don’t like broccoli .
